Port Blair, March 22: The Office of the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency (District Office, South Andaman) has started receiving the nomination papers from the contesting candidates. The notification for election to the lone Parliamentary Constituency for UT was issued on March 20, 2024. Shri Bishnu Pada Ray of Bharatiya Janata Party today handed over four sets of nomination papers to the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS at the Office of the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman) in person.

Port Blair, March 22: The students of Govt. Sec. School, Junglighat on 21st March 2024 visited Palm Grove Eco Resort, Port Blair and Bageecha, Port Blair- an initiative of Andaman Chronicle, on a field trip/ educational tour. The trip was a part of Vocational Education (Travel & Tourism) under Samagra Siksha.

At Palm Grove Eco Resort, Shri Shibu Varghese took the visiting students around the resort and explained the tourism aspects to enhance the knowledge of the students.

Jaglan, IAS visited ‘Election Permission Cell’, Braille EPIC preparation Cell set up in the Office premises of the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency today and interacted with the staff. The staff explained the procedure of various permission being granted and procedure of Braille EPIC preparation for all visually impaired electors.

Port Blair, March 22: The North & Middle Andaman District Police took the innovative “Mahila Manch”, to its next level with the goal of empowering women living in the remote villages of the district. This time the initiative brings together women from Burma Dera, Karmatang and Webi villages of the district. It was a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the unique culture and traditions of Karen community.

Port Blair, March 22: On March 22, 2024, the proactive team of PS Mayabunder took swift action based on credible information regarding the illegal sale of venison meat at a residence in Webi village, Mayabunder. A raiding team, led by SI Dinesh Meena, SI (IRBn) Neethi J Vetriarsan, PCs B. Dilleshwar Rao, K Balraju, and S.Tamil Selvi, was formed immediately.

The team conducted a raid at the premises of Ms. Sumanti Toppo, w/o Thomas Uraon, in Webi, Mayabunder. During the search, illegal wildlife products were discovered on the backyards, including 3 kgs of dry meat (likely venison), 1 deer head, 12 packets of venison meat weighing approximately 11.5 kgs and 1 Nos. Air gun.
